Good Eats

via Knife-Wielding Feminists:

Favorite food to crunch: Popcorn, from those festive holiday tins. Eat the cheese with the caramel flavors together.

Favorite comfort food: Garlic mashed potatoes. I use a frankly illegal amount of garlic for this. Because El Yo will not eat mashed potatoes, garlicky or no, I usually only make this when he's gone.

Food that makes the best noise: Jicama sticks! Crunch crunch crunch! Close second: Gin-gins.

Favorite picnic lunch: I think the closest I can come is kayaking food: flavored honey sticks, Pink Lady apples, hummus and vegetables on pita bread.

Favorite food scene in movie: The pie fight in Bugsy Malone. Food kills!

Favorite food lyrics: "What a gorgeous sight/To see you eat in the middle of the night" --The Cure, "Friday I'm In Love"

Best food smell memory: When we were kids, we'd make Christmas cake--dense, fruit-filled fruitcake made made more deadly with the addition of tooth-cracking silver coins--and leaning over the bowl to take my turn stirring released the most amazing combination of vanilla, sugar, brandy and citrus. Even now, making certain cakes from scratch sometimes brings it all back.

Favorite summer snack: Ice cream. Although see also: Favorite spring snack, favorite fall snack and second-favorite winter snack.

Food that reminds me of the ocean: Seaweed, the kind used to wrap sushi.

Favorite winter snack: Organic oranges with hot mint tea.

Most likely to eat for lunch: A Zone bar, while moving at speed.

Least likely to eat for lunch: Anything requiring more than 4 minutes to eat or any type of utensil.

Makes me gag: Cottage cheese with pineapple or strawberries or any kind of non-cottage cheese additive in it. Insta-hurl. Although recently I realized that even as a vegetarian I hate peas. And as an adult, I don't have to eat them. HuhZAH!

Favorite wild foods: Honey. Honey honey honey. Clover honey, orange honey, apple honey, blackberry honey....I feel a cup of tea coming on.

Favorite medicinal food: Is Emergen-C a food? I have a stash at work.

Foods that reflect my heritage: Jammy Dodgers! Jammy! Dodgers! Iced gems, cheesy footballs, Cadbury Crunchie, Ribena, Marmite. Mmmmm.

Food most like me: Cadbury's Miniature Heroes, baby.

Favorite raw food smell: Just before putting a scoop of honey into my tea, I love to lean over the jar and inhale deeply. I get the same jar of honey every month from the farmstand down the road: a small hive-shaped jar labeled only with an office address label from a small farm in St Albans. Definitely not pasteurized.
