March 29, 2007What in the world ever became of Sweet Jane?Last night at the gym, I was waddling away on the stair-climbing-elliptical-ARC-doodads without my headphones. The earbuds I had broke, and the 1970s Katamari Damacy earcones I now rock are impractical for stair-waddling, so there I was listening to the classic rock being piped in over the loudspeakers. Suddenly I realize that someone very near me was singing along to The Grateful Dead's "Truckin"; a woman maybe 10 years older than me, cranking away on a rowing machine and belting along at the top of her lungs, eyes closed, sweat pouring down her face. Which made me think: a) Fair play to her cardio for rowing and singing simultaneously, and b) I love being over 30. I can just tell it's gonna get better from here on in. |
